Q. How do you chose your Charity of the Year?

The festival is very much a synagistic relationship between interested charities and the festival organisers. Via the Salford Dragon Boat Festival, we offer an opportunity for charities to benefit from a high profile, competitive sporting event without the financial risk normally associated with organising their own event.

For a charity to be nominated as the Charity of the Year, we look at how much support was given to the festival in the previous year and how many teams each charity recruited. Quite simply, the charity that recruits the most teams this year will be offered Charity of the Year status in the following year, with all the corporate income benefits that position holds.
