The Salford Dragon Boat Festival

The Salford Dragon Boat Festival is one of just a small number of 'Open Festivals' set up and organised by leading UK dragon boat challenge providers, Race The Dragon Ltd. Unlike other dragon boat racing events, which are usually closed events organised by and for the benefit of, a single client charity / hospice, the Salford Dragon Boat Festival is an open event where teams can nominate their own charity.

The costs of putting together the event, organising the venue, bringing in the boats, equipment, instructors etc. is underwritten by Race The Dragon Ltd so that smaller charities, or regional branches of larger national charities can all benefit.

To date, some £150,000 has been raised from the various Open Festivals Race The Dragon organise and forty four charities from the Salford Dragon Boat Festival have benefited from the funds raised by the teams entering.

Race The Dragon also supply some of the UK's largest fund raising events, including the KM Charity Dragon Boat Race (over £100,000 raised in 2015) and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Dragon Boat Festival, which in 2015 raised £145,000.
