The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 44,000 patients a year.

With a history of over 100 years of leading cancer care The Christie serves a population of 3.2 million people across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, while 26% of our patients are referred to us from across the UK.

The Christie is part of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, working with The University of Manchester and Cancer Research UK. We are also one of seven partners in the Manchester Academic Health Science Research Centre.

We are also home to The Christie School of Oncology which provides undergraduate education, clinical professional and medical education - the first of its kind in the UK.

• One of the world’s largest radiotherapy departments, plus satellite radiotherapy centres in Oldham and Salford

• The UK’s largest chemotherapy unit, plus patients have access to our mobile chemotherapy units which are based at 10 Greater Manchester locations and able to travel to patient’s homes

• Highly specialised surgeons, meaning specialist surgery for a range

• The UK’s first high-energy Proton Beam Therapy Centre. PBT is a specialist form of radiotherapy which can very precisely target certain cancers, increasing success rates and reducing side-effects. Its introduction to the UK will mean that patients no longer have to travel abroad to the US or Switzerland for this life-saving treatment.

The charity helps delivers projects, equipment and improvements that are over and above what the NHS can fund, enabling our patients to have access to the best possible care, research and treatment possible.
